My bicycle is a sum of it’s parts. What began as a very elegant machine is now a supreme touring machine. This came about from everyone whom I met along the way who looked at the situation, gauged what would be best based on their experience and what they had available that they were comfortable giving and through this process I now have a touring bike of very high esteem.
It is no different from the lives each and every one of us lead. We are constantly meeting and interacting with people and then evolving out of these meetings, constantly re-creating ourselves.
No trip, be it one simply led, or of epic proportion, is ever due to the traveler alone, everyones’ life is a sum of its parts, and the parts are picked up or “donated” from everyone on the your path.
That being said, here are those who went above and beyond to help me on my way:
My Parents, a no brainer you would think at first glance, without parents, there can be no child! And yet it took some time for us to come to a point where we were true friends, where there was respect and understanding… where we truly understood where one another was coming from. I am blessed for my parents and their willingness to let me be me and support me.
Jacqueline M, -Had decided long ago that this was most likely my path and has never wavered since in driving me onward and always being there for me.
Francesca A. – Helped me through a very difficult time when my father was very sick at the very beginning of my journey, taught me the loving kindness, forgiveness and acceptance. All of which we are lost without.
Marc M. and NATSTA (North American Tang Shou Tao Association – NATSTA.org) – Taught me Kung Fu and Chinese Medicine, helped me see a powerful side of myself which led to a great and humble confidence in who and what I am and will be.
David and Kristan V. – Gave me a wonderful place to stay in Hawi, Hawaii, which I would eventually come to call home and they would eventually be like parents to me, I cannot thank them enough for their kindness and their support in my endeavor.
Dee C. and Jesse W. – Two extremely kind and understanding people who taught me many many things and gave me a great environment not only for work, but for self growth and for the many mornings with Jesse, giving me advice and constantly pushing me to get out into the world.
David B. – Was the sign from God I was looking for when deciding to do this bike ride, gave me great contacts and great stories.
Team Guyette – Kept me safe and sound when I got CHICKEN POX in Vegas
Maurice T./Poppy B./Dieter R. – I learned escrima, got my first real serious taste of mountain biking, was plugged in to the biking community in a huge way and got a sense of family that is always needed for one traveling alone.
Carlyn T.- Thanks for Lovin’ me and reminding me I’m Ninja=]
Jessica P.- Opened her house to me, got me contacts and products for my ride, got me bikes to go off roading with and was generally rad, keeping a good sense of humor about everything.
